Fun Facts about Caleb

Just wanted to take a minute and write down a few things that people might like to know about the past 10 weeks.

Caleb Andrew Boucher was born 3 weeks early on January 16th, 2005 at 2:51 am. He weighed in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 18 inches long.

He came out of the womb already holding his head up...wow...what a strong little guy.

He is very stubborn [he gets that from his mom :-)].

He first rolled over, from his belly to his back at 1 month old.

At five weeks old his mom and dad noticed a large bulge in his abdomen which come to find out was a rather large inguinal hernia.

After seeing his MD and then a pediatric surgeon it was determined that Caleb needed to have surgery to repair his hernia.

At 7 weeks old Caleb has surgery to repair one hernia, only to have the surgeon find another hernia on the other side of his abdomen that also was repaired.

Caleb did not like the anesthesia very much. He had a hard time when they extubated him. The muscles around his airway began to spasm and closed off his ability to breath. However, the anesthesiologist gave him a muscle relaxing drug that allowed his airway to open and all was okay. He was never without air for any length of time and has been assured by the doctors that he should have no lasting effects.

He has since been given a clear bill of health by the surgeon and his MD, except for the fact that his tear ducts in both eyes are blocked and have been virtually since birth. His parents ask that you pray for this to clear up so that he does not have to undergo another operation (we are told that they should clear up on their own by age 1 yr).

Caleb started smiling at about 8 weeks old. his parents think that he has the cutest smile around.

He has recently started to sleep for more than three hours at a time during the night, which makes his mom very happy.
